at the moment, I should be studying. seriously.

I know I shouldn’t be reading right now but I managed to get my hands on a copy of Requiem for the Devil by Jeri Smith-Ready and with just a few pages, I don’t want to stop yet. I have Math, Botany, English essays, and a paper to finish while I take the time reading books. Temptation. BAH.

I started reading Einstein’s Dreams yesterday (which I borrowed from a friend months ago. It was sadly lying down on my pile of books ignored until yesterday morning) though I’m most likely going to delay reading that to finish Requiem for the Devil. I really should have know better than to start reading something during a week I expect would be busy. I should finish most of my homework soon after dinner if I want to keep functioning properly.

I also plan on rereading Daughter of the Forest after those two books. I’ve been browsing the web yesterday for books that seems interesting to read but nothing really managed to get my interest (until tonight — which is an unfortunate case for me).

And yesterday, I managed to borrow a book with letters/essays/critique written in the 18th and 19th century. I don’t know what I was thinking when I created a Viscount as a character for my stories so now I’m determined to write more similarly to the 19th-century way of writing.

MUST KEEP IN MIND THAT I SHOULD STUDY.

Rant: Trends

I finally bought my own copy of New Moon, the sequel to the novel Twilight. I do like the story, yes, but the thing that starts to bother me is the fact that it’s starting to become a trend. And I dislike buying books when they’re universally worshiped by millions. When I first read Twilight, it was not as famous as it was now and I fear that the series is starting to become the new “in”. This is precisely the reason why I avoided The Da Vinci Code - everyone was reading it, it did not seem a leisure for me to do so. Though a big fanbase is good for any author, I don’t like them when they’re too huge - as some people do not like hearing the word “Bleach” because of its suffocating fanbase.

Maybe it was good I started reading the now-expanding series when it was not as popular. Now that I have started it, I’ll always have that feeling of finishing the story. I remember reading Stephenie Meyer saying she might write a fourth book but I want the story to end there. I don’t like novels stretching too long, as if there was no end to all their life-endangering problems, plots building up into a mountain too high to climb (i.e. Terry Goodkind, Charlaine Harris). If Stephenie actually writes over four novels for this series, I might just feel like stopping to read it. Gah.
