Southern Vampire Mysteries - quotes

Some quotes I just wanted to take note of.

Arlene stared at me. “They got to check in with you, now? Sookie, you need to shun the dead and involve yourself more with the living.”

- p. 116, Definitely Dead

I had to put that, because I loved the way Arlene said it. xD Can’t put that in better words.

“If I sleep with a hundred men, or a hundred sheep, it’s not any of your business!”

- Sookie, Dead as a Doornail (lost the page)

It has sheep in it, and that’s reason enough. :P

Southern Vampire Mysteries 5 - by Charlaine Harris

Dead as a Doornail seems to eliminate previous potential lovers for Sookie. First of all, Alcide was acting like a bastard in this book that I just had to like Eric more after he and Sookie talked a little soon after the real culprit of the shootings had been killed:

“Why were you there? Was that blasted Alcide trying to use you for some purpose in the contest?”

“You should talk about using.”

“Yes, but I’m straightforward about it,” Eric said, his blue eyes wide and guileless.

Meanwhile, Sam’s Sookie’s boss and she said herself that not getting involved with him was for the best.

Bill’s her first lover - but he hurt and betrayed her too badly for them to have a relationship again (at least, this is what I believe. As Sookie said, it wouldn’t be the same and a possibility for a new one wouldn’t be anytime soon).

But now there’s Quinn, and that’s something I have to read for tomorrow.

I’m starting to wonder if Sookie had actually died, how would it affect Eric?

SPOILERS FOLLOW. DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU’D RATHER NOT READ ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK AND POSSIBLY THE NEXT (6th to the series). (more…)

Southern Vampire Mysteries 4 - by Charlaine Harris

Finished Reading: March 20, 2007

I’ve just finished reading Dead to the World (skipped the first three books and headed onto the fourth) and enjoyed it. Or rather, enjoyed Eric’s character, LOL.

No, really. I didn’t have a hard time getting what had happened even if if I hadn’t actually read the previous novels and I managed to get a good grasp of the story (though obviously, I’m not as knowledgeable than those who have read through the first three, but hey, I was really initially interested with the plot with a vampire-with-amnesia story). And I believe of all of Sookie’s prospective or, er, possible lovers (with Quinn getting into the picture for the next following books) - Eric has got to be my favorite (speaking in a biased point of view, seeing as to how I’ve managed to spoil myself about Bill’s…secret and all that). I’ve yet to read the next two books, Five and Six (will be waiting for the Seventh this May) to set a better opinion regarding Quinn, heh.

I’m not into vampire-romance-mystery books, so this has got to be my first (Twilight by Stephanie Meyer could only be described as…young-adult-vampire-romance — at least for me). I’m probably going to read the next novels, but I’m not quite sure I’d start with the first three anytime soon.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for Eric but, oh, I don’t know. I’ve got this odd feelings things aren’t going to head in that direction. And of course, the plot. I have to stop indulging myself with just the romance, LOL.
