New Moon: Reread

My friend and I were talking over the phone yesterday about New Moon. I’ve read the Eclipse chapter 1 excerpt and I can’t help but agree with my friend when we couldn’t understand why Bella was even hesitating to marry Edward. She said she didn’t fear commitment - and marriage is already the perpetual kind of love she claims she’d like to have with Edward. And to think she shuddered at the word “fiancé”. (T__T) If she really loved Edward, why shrink away from it? I pity him now, after Bella treated his proposal as a joke. It’s very clear that Bella’s love for him does not even come close to Edward’s love for her. Wasn’t it the kind of love and commitment she was looking for? Refusing to marry him would now be a contradiction to her claims of love she felt for him.
I can’t help but feel Stephenie Meyer is starting to make me dislike Bella’s character. She was fine the way she was in Twilight, but the major angst she experienced in New Moon destroyed what I had admired about her, and now, from the Eclipse excerpt I read, it doesn’t seem that Stephenie Meyer will be redeeming Bella’s character anytime soon.
My friend also expressed the same fears about the series’ growing popularity. D= I still hope it doesn’t escalate into a world-wide trend.

It’s actually insanely popular nowadays. Haha.
When my two of my friends had read Twilight, I decided to reread it and I realized so many things wrong with the book. Like, does Bella really love Edward? I’m starting to think it’s mostly physical. And not to mention Stephenie Meyer’s continuous use of the words “grimace” and “glare.” That kinda got to me.
So afterwards, I decided to read New Moon again as well and …. guhhh. WTF is up with Bella? Seriously? Doesn’t she know the consequences of being a vampire? Is she even thinking about her family at all? Or how much she’s hurt her friends and Jacob? I mean, good grief. D: I’m not quite sure I’m going to read Eclipse… not when I can’t even stand the main girl.

o_o I didn’t notice that.
I liked the first book because it seemed she was more attracted to the thrill and all, but yeah, I didn’t like her in this sequel. But I suppose I’d just read Eclipse for the sake of going on with the story (not finishing it yet, since I read it was going to have a fourth. @_@) and maybe Stephenie Meyer will redeem Bellas character. -wince- I hope. Oh wait. Yes, I have. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have it in me right now to type it all out again. Besides, it was just ramblings anyway. You didn’t want to hear me go on and on about this, right?
