Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs

Started Reading: March 28, 2007
Finished Reading: March 29, 2007

I intended to read Greywalker but I ended up reading this instead. Hehe. I didn’t exactly know it was the second book to the series (Mercy Thompson series) so I read and it wasn’t until Mercy started talking about past events and debts that I realized, okay, this definitely isn’t the first book. I finished Blood Bound regardless, and I’ve been doing the reading-in-descending-order for the past few days (the Southern Vampires series, the Bridgerton series, etc.) so I’m pretty much used to it. I guess the only thing I’m confused of is Mercy’s age.

Anyway, Patricia Brigg’s world has a different feel from Charlaine Harris’, and this time it’s the werewolves and fae who came out in the open first, vampires still keeping their existence secret. I don’t know which world seems darker - maybe neither is, but it has that different feel to it. Vampires don’t exactly hog the spotlight in Mercy’s world, even if this particular book in the series have them slightly in focus.

I like Mercy’s character and even the wolves, Samuel and Adam. I hadn’t read anything with a walker before. Usually it’s just human, vampire, werewolf, shapeshifter, and faeries. Now there’s a character who shapeshifts, isn’t a vampire nor were, and can pass for a human (but she isn’t…since she’s a Walker, so it’s altogether a different thing). Stefan is a very interesting vampire, with that Scooby-doo look-alike van. I’d like to know how everyone met each other so I’m going to read the first book, Moon Called, soon.

Should I talk about relationships? Because I can’t help it, >__<;; LOL. I’m always interested in romance. Or the possibility of one.

Mercy and Adam is has the greatest potential here, but I think Sam still has a chance (but I don’t really know how big that chance it. It isn’t small, but it isn’t very great a chance either). And Stefan - he’s been giving readers hints about his affection towards Mercy that I wasn’t surprised at all when he kissed her. But Mercy has a slight aversion of thinking vampires are dead, cold dead, and she was raised within a pack so this gives a less possibility of the Stefan/Mercy happening.

Iron Kissed, the third book, is due to be released in January 2008 and the fourth in January 2009. I need to stop reading ongoing books, LOL. I’m being forced to wait!

I’m hours away from graduation (high school) and here I am reading like there’s no tomorrow. xD I’ve been neglecting writing because of all these novels I want to read. I’d go and buy books in bookstores, but with my financial state I’d have to opt buying second-hand books in Booksale (not that I mind, but you know, crisp, new books are really love. xD).
